Helium 10 X-Ray Review: Is It Good For Product Research?

To succeed in the Amazon business, you need a product that’s been in demand while offering a reasonable profit. Also, if you are a newbie, you need a product with low competition in order to create a base for you to stay longer in the marketplace.

But, how do you find such products? I think We’ve got something for you.

Helium 10 X-Ray Review - OriellaPRNetwork

X-Ray, a Google Chrome extension, is a part of Helium 10’s seller suite that allows you to perform an in-depth analysis of the products as you browse through various items on the Amazon website.

It helps you fetch intimate details of any products that normally you wouldn’t have access to.

The process of finding a good product is challenging since there are thousands of other sellers who might be looking to sell the very product you have selected to be your dream one. Apart from that, there are several other factors to decide – what price to set, what keywords to use, and the best time to launch an item.

In this article, I’ll walk you through X-Ray and its features. We will also discuss how it might prove a trump card not only in your product research but in the entire Amazon journey. I will also talk about other features included in the Helium 10 Chrome extension.

Let’s get going.

X-Ray: A Perfect Extension For Your FBA Solutions

Helium 10 is an all-in-one platform for managing your FBA business. It consists of a set of tools that allows you to dig deep into the marketplace to find out lucrative items to sell for a high profit. It also helps users to follow their competitors, understand the market trends and implement various tactics to stay a step ahead in the race.

Helium 10 XRay Overview

One of the tools that Helium 10 provides is a powerful product research engine. It helps you locate the winning products from its library of over 450 million Amazon products. By winning products, I mean the items that are in demand at the particular moment, offer a higher profit margin, and are cost-effective.

X-Ray is a part of the Helium 10 product research that you can use directly from your Google Chrome browser as you go through the products on the Amazon shopping website.

It helps you collect several data points that will come in handy while choosing the product and creating the listing for your seller page. Based on the analysis, an X-Ray awards a rating to each product referred to as the Product Success Score. The higher the score, the better chance of the product to succeed.

In terms of reliability and data accuracy, X-Ray comes out on top of the rest. Helium 10 is known for its pinpoint accuracy when it comes to sales history, keyword trends, profit analysis, and so on.

According to a survey by Jungle Scout, Helium 10 holds an accuracy level of almost 75%.

Here is what you get with the Helium 10 X-Ray package that we will be discussing in detail further in this review.

  • Amazon Product Research
  • ASIN Grabber
  • Profitability Calculator
  • Inventory Levels
  • Review Insights

After clicking on the extension icon, you will be asked to sign in to your Helium 10 account.

Once you are logged in, click on Connect to Amazon to add your seller account to the extension.

Connect To Amazon

The extension program is ready to use. Now let’s see how to search for product details through X-Ray:

  • Type your desired product in the search bar on the Amazon website.
  • Click on the Helium 10 icon on the Extension bar and turn on the X-Ray tool.

As soon as you click on the X-Ray icon, you are presented with a page with a list of all the products listed under your search query. The amount of data shown by X-Ray can throw you off a bit, especially if you are new to Amazon business. Let me break it down for you.

Here are some key data points that you will find on the X-Ray Amazon Product Research Page:

  • Search Volume
  • Total Revenue
  • Average Revenue
  • Average Price
  • Average BSR
  • Average Reviews
  • Related Keywords (New Feature)

Below the highlights, you see the list of products listed for the searched keyword along with the following details:

  • Product Name
  • Product ASIN (Amazon Standard Identification Number)
  • Product Brand/Vendor
  • Price
  • Number of Sales Per Month
  • Monthly Sales Trend
  • Revenue generated by the Seller by the Product
  • BSR (Amazon Best Sellers Rank)
  • FBA cost for the Item
  • Product rating
  • Number of Reviews on each product

X-Ray: The Key Data Points

Let’s discuss some key data points in detail :

Search Volume

This shows the number of times people have searched for that particular keyword. A high Search Volume count means the product is high in demand. Next to search volume, you can click on the graph to find out the search trend for the product over the year. This gives you a better understanding of the most suitable time to launch the product if you are planning to sell that.

Although a higher search volume product appears juicy but the competition for the product will be fierce and it might be difficult to get going with the item, especially in the beginning.

Average Revenue

This column shows the average monthly revenue the products are generating for the sellers. You can modify the filters to change it to a yearly report as well. The average revenue helps you get a rough idea about the earnings you should expect with the item.

Total Revenue

This section highlights the total income the sellers are harvesting with the products that are listed under the searched keyword.

Total Revenue gives you a brief idea about the market size for the items and whether it’s a good idea to start selling the items from the same category.

Average BSR

It shows you the average Amazon best sellers ranking of the vendors selling the items under the category.

It helps you determine how the merchants selling the items are performing in comparison to other sellers. This way, you can easily judge the overall performance of the products.

Average Price

It shows the average price of the products listed in the category. This helps you set a price tag on your products that is competitive yet keeps you in profit.

Success Score

Based on all the metrics data, X-Ray allocates a Success score in the form of stars to help you identify the true performance of the product. Of course, the more stars, the better the item is to market.

Average Reviews

This section shows the average reviews the sellers are getting for the products. Items with a high review count are trending but again, the competition is stiff. On average, it’s a good practice to start with the products with a 200-300 review count.

Key Features:

As I mentioned in the beginning, apart from X-Ray Product Research, the Helium 10 extension consists of 4 other tools:

ASIN Grabber:

ASIN grabber allows you to copy multiple ASINs simultaneously. You can save them for further/future analysis. For example, you are searching for a Christmas gift item in the month of June.  but the problem is, that the data shown by the X-Ray in the month of June will not be a good representation of the market in December.

Helium 10 ASIN Grabber

In this situation, you can use the ASIN grabber and copy the entire Christmas gift product list into an XL file. This way, you will be able to find out which amongst the list were the top performers during the Christmas period. This will give you a head start for the next holiday season and start your planning for the upcoming season.

Profitability Evaluator:

One of my personal favorite tools from Helium 10 is the profitability calculator. It helps you find out the expected profit/loss a product may fetch to you. All you need to do is, choose any product on Amazon under your preferred category and click on the Profitability calculator on the extension.

Helium 10 Profitability Evaluator

The tool automatically extracts various key values from the product’s Amazon page such as its price, dimensions, weight, and shipping weight. Based on your estimated freight and manufacturing cost per unit, the calculator shows you the expected net income, profit margin, and ROI per unit. Moreover, you can also see various expenses such as FBA fees, storage fees, Referral fees, and so on.

Inventory Levels:

Inventory Levels

Inventory Levels lets you know about the seller’s remaining stock of a particular item. You can use this data to your advantage by listing your item when your competitor’s inventory level is down. Or if your competitor has a huge stock at a lower price than you, you know it’s time for you to give up on that product and wait for a better opportunity to list it.

Review Downloader:

The review section is the best place to look for product quality and real-life performance. But. with some products having thousands of them, it’s impossible to go through each of them. This is where the Review Downloader comes to the rescue.

Review Downloader

As the name suggests, Review Downloader/Insights allows you to download the bulk reviews from any Amazon item. You can use various filters such as the number of stars, Positive reviews, reviews with images/videos, and time duration you want to download the reviews.

X-Ray: Price

Helium 10 is included with all the premium plans of Helium 10, however, if you have a Helium 10 account, you can use it for free as well.  But to be able to perform deep product research, You need other Helium 10 tools such as product research, Keyword Research, listing optimizer, and much more.
